It is clear that Brazil has changed its level. It is clear that Brazilian society is divided between the 82% who approve the Lula's Government and other 5% who reject it. Never has been so clear the huge distance between those who never believed in the nation or in the Brazilian people and the joy that radiates through the country in this unique moment. On the one hand, the bitter, reactionary and desperate voice from the owners of media power, divorced from the nation, don't see the world that opens ahead of Brazilian society. On the other hand, a candidate orphan of ideas who has always defended and remained attached to the flags of a type of country that was left behind.
Not only the old flags, but the banners lagged that are dropped by the roadside. Gradually, cheap ideologies, stuck ideas, behaviors sedimented in the press lose meaning and strength. "People do not like politics," "the people do not know how to vote", "Brazil will never catch on", "nothing succeeds here", "politics is only about robbery", "Brazil is only beach and Carnival". How many myths propagated only to affirm the dominant ideology that the problem is the people? What most despairs that 5% of society is not only being out of power and thus go on, but also being unmasked in their cowardice, their inertia, their divorce of nation, and even more fundamentally, being discovered in the fact that they never wanted a country.
For the first time, the nation in all its meanings, becomes a protagonist with the possibility of choice. Why until now the people had no choice but to agree with the lack of choice, with the lack of destination, with the impossibility to perform at their full potential. Policarpo Quaresma, Lima Barreto's eternal character of frustrated potential, gets revenge in this historical moment in which a woman, Dilma Rousseff reaffirms before the nation the desire to continue the national project of including the mass of Brazilian people in the script of History. The migrant, mechanical lathe operator, the tortured woman...and slowly the people sees itself in power and experiment its own power.this is not the same thing, this is not a fallacy, it is not a lure, much less the continuity of the failed neoliberal project undertaken by FHC. With Lula and Dilma, it is clear to Latin America that another destination is possible at the South of the Equador. There is no division, it is not a divided society, it is Brazil wanting to be South American in all senses and directions. The farm that Brazil was in the hands of wealthy individuals who dreamed they were born in Miami, who never dreamed the dream of the people, individuals who have no choice now but to join the new that emerges and consolidates itself or to entrench themselves in their pettiness.
The greatness of Brazil is not only in its rich mineral resources in an exhausted world, but it is in the multiplicity of colors of its people in a divided world, in the capacity to integrate all faiths when the world religions twitch, in the ability to reinvent cultures having world cultures all mixed here, looking at the world when other countries are contemplating their navel Daring to speak when the world take up arms.Brazil is now important not because of the wealth of resources the country can provide to the world, but because of what it can do to improve the world.
A great nation is there to be built and its construction starts with education of people about their own greatness. Luciano Alvarenga, Sociologist
